Heru Motivates Scholarship Recipients at Overseas Universities

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, released 34 out of the 44 students from public and private high schools in Jakarta who passed to get the Undergraduate Scholarship for Foreign Universities (PTLN) through the 2nd Batch of Indonesia Maju Scholarship Program, Monday (7/10) .

Your experience abroad is a life choice

Those students would go abroad in July and August 2023. Before being released, the Acting Governor gave motivation and encouragement to the scholarship recipients.

Some who attended were asked about the high school where they were accepted and their major. He also had time to share stories from college and life experiences while abroad.

"Your experience abroad is a life choice, so you can grow, achieve, and when you get a mental position you are also ready. I definitely pray, Hopefully everything goes smoothly," he expressed.

He left a message to the scholarship recipients to carry the name of the nation while abroad and contribute to building the nation with their respective knowledge after returning to Indonesia.

"Congratulations to all of you. I entrusted with me the fragrance of the name of Indonesia, the name of Jakarta and I hope that you could build this city after returning to Jakarta," he explained.

He wanted the enthusiasm for learning to pursue the achievements of students who passed this scholarship could be transmitted to other students in Indonesia, especially Jakarta, thus they would be motivated to excel.

"Please pass it on to friends, thus students out there can be encouraged to excel. Especially those in Jakarta, especially KJP recipients. This opportunity is for our children who still have the opportunity to excel. What determines our life is ourselves," he continued.

Jakarta Education Agency Acting Head, Purwosusilo explained a total of 44 students from Jakarta were declared to have passed the Stage 2 Indonesia Maju Scholarship Program consisting of 35 public high school students and nine students from private high schools.

These 44 students from Jakarta have gone through a very long selection process, from September to November 2022 through mentoring and so on.

"Then from these children today there were 34 people, as some were taking part in the National OSN training, some had gone directly to their campus locations overseas. Then they also graduate in various majors, some are technology, IT, Environmental Science, Pure Science, and Computer Science," he explained.

Those 44 students were accepted at various overseas colleges or universities including Illinois Chicago, Toronto, Nanyang Technological, and Michigan Tech universities.

"We advise that students who graduate must maintain ethics, comply with the rules of the country concerned, introduce Indonesian culture, seriously gain knowledge there. More importantly, keep the good name of Jakarta and Indonesia," he stated.
