LH Agency Holds Circular Economy Festival 2023, the First and Biggest in Indonesia

The Jakarta Environment Agency (LH) synergizes with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and various circular economy activists to hold the 2023 Circular Economy Festival (FES) at Taman Menteng, Central Jakarta, which falls on July 26-27, 2023.

The festival, which is the first and the biggest in Indonesia is held to bring together green business activists and their offtakers.

Jakarta LH Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto disclosed this Circular Economy Festival is one of the platforms to complete public understanding and encourage people to be actively involved in the circular economy movement.

According to him, the circular economy is an economic approach that aims to create economic growth by maintaining the value of products, materials, and resources as long as possible.

In the context of waste management, circular economy practices could be realized through waste reduction, redesign, reuse, and recycling practices.

"It can help reduce the volume of waste and reduce pressure on natural resources if implemented properly as waste can be used as raw material for recycling," he explained, Monday (7/24).

He continued the spread and awareness of this concept is still uneven. Therefore, concrete action is needed to further strengthen public awareness and understanding of the importance of a circular economy in reducing the volume of waste.

"It can simultaneously improve the welfare and economy of the community," he continued.

As for the information, dozens of exhibition booths from waste-based circular economy elements ranging from maggot activists, waste bank activists, compost activists, ecoenzyme activists, green MSMEs, forest farmer groups, start-ups, FMCG industry, offtakers, to financial institutions will be brought together. This moment will provide an opportunity for circular economy actors to upgrade.

This event will also be enlivened with various interesting activities ranging from talk shows with the FMCG industry and financial institutions, sharing sessions with various parties to discuss their success stories in the circular economy movement, to competitions and door prizes with a total prize of tens of millions of rupiah.
