Bella, a Daughter of Coffee Seller Hopes to Get KJP

The Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) program launched by Jakarta Provincial Government is very helpful for students from lower-income family to get basic rights for better education. Unfortunately, it is not yet enjoyed by students who really need extra education fee.

Sometimes, the neighbor helps us to fulfill our daily needs. But until now, my daughter has yet to get the card, despite she been sitting in the first grade of junior high school

As experienced by Bella Ginting (12), a resident of the Marunda Flat Block C3 No.511, RW 07 Marunda Urban Village, North Jakarta. She who is still sitting in the first grade Junior High School (SMP) student does not get the card. Whereas, a daughter of the couple Asih Mulyati (39) and JT Ginting (40) already proposed a proposal it when she was in the fifth grader. Economically, Asih classified as lower-income family. She is no longer receiving a living when her parents were divorced.

KJP Fund Reaches Rp 3 Trillion

To fulfill daily needs and education cost for her daughter studying in Imtaq Darur Rohim High School, Cakung Barat, Cakung, East Jakarta, she had to sell coffee and snack in the flat.

In a day, she can reap Rp 50 thousand. From that money, 20-25 thousand given to her daughter for school fees. While the rest used to fulfill daily needs and saved to pay flat cost by Rp 182 thousand/month.

"Sometimes, the neighbor helps us to fulfill our daily needs. But until now, my daughter has yet to get the card, despite she been sitting in the first grade of junior high school,” said Asih, Thursday (3/12).

Asih confessed she had already proposed the card to her daughter's school several times, but there has been no respond until now.

“Indeed, school fee is free of charge. Nevertheless, I have to buy school uniform and stationery to my daughter,” she admitted.

Responding on this matter, Head of North Jakarta Education Department Regian II, Supriyatin disclosed her party has difficulties to assist Bella as long as her school located in East Jakarta. Hence, she hopes Bella can move to another school.

“Just report to Education Department Head in sub-district to find another school which will accept Bella. We will do the best to get the card soon if it is needed," she disclosed.
