Embankment Development on Untung Jawa Island Being Accelerated

The Seribu Islands Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency keeps speeding up the embankment development behind the fishing port, RT 03/03, Untung Jawa Island, South Seribu Islands.

Hopefully, it can be completed soon

Seribu Islands SDA Sub-agency Head, Hendri said the embankment development is a follow-up to the residents' proposals in the Musrenbang. As planned, it would developed up to 30 meters long.

"The dam development aims to keep the sand commensurate with the Sakura Beach area, thus it is not blown away by sea waves during high tide," he said, Friday (7/28).

He explained the work involved 19 personnel. Until now, the development progress has touched 15 meters or 45 percent.

It has been ongoing since and is targeted to be complete in early August 2023.

"Six more days without rain and high tide, the massive cube installation will be complete. Then we will continue with casting to make the dam," he explained.

Untung Jawa Island Urban Village Head, Sidartawan appreciated the embankment development carried out by the SDA personnel because it was deemed fast and neat.

In the future, the dam area near Sakura Beach could also be used by residents or tourists as a swimming pool or bath.
