Today's Air Quality in Jakarta Improves, Ranking 27th

Jakarta's air quality today, Saturday (8/12) is better than Moscow, Singapore, and Washington. The air quality monitoring site IQAir records Jakarta's air quality today at position 27 with the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 65 at 4 PM or in the moderate category.

At 1 PM today, Jakarta was ranked ninth with an AQI score of 119. However, an hour later, its condition improved, thus it was ranked 27th.

Previously, on Thursday (8/10), Jakarta's air quality was ranked first in the unhealthy category with an AQI score of 156.

Jakarta Keeps Trying to Reduce Air Pollution in Capital City

"Thank God, today's air quality in Jakarta is quite good. Even it is better than other big cities in the world such as Moscow, Singapore, and Washington," expressed Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Yogi Ikhwan, in thr Jakarta Provincial Government's press release.

Jakarta's air quality position today is better than Dubai City, United Arab Emirates which ranks first with a fairly high AQI score of 186. It is followed by Doha City, Qatar in second place with a score of 170, and Riyadh City, Saudi Arabia in third place with an AQI score of 157.

While, a city in Southeast Asia, Hanoi, Vietnam is ranked 8th with an AQI score of 120. Then Singapore is ranked ninth with a score of 110.

Jakarta's position is also still below Washington, the United States, which has an AQI score of 71 and is ranked 22nd. Then, Moscow, Russia, is ranked 25th with an AQI score of 67.

IQAir reports that PM2.5 in Jakarta is currently 3.8 times the WHO annual air quality guideline value. Meanwhile, last Thursday PM2.5 reached 11.6 times the WHO annual air quality guideline score.

He explained that air quality fluctuated. Hopefully, the fairly good air quality in Jakarta could be maintained.

"There are many influential factors. The Jakarta Government is definitely doing various ways so that our air quality can get better," he continued.
