Janitors Will on Standby 24 Hours to Prevent Trash Cans Theft

The theft and vandalism action against sorting and animation trash cans in the capital becomes a serious attention for Jakarta Provincial Government. Therefore, Jakarta Cleanliness Department will deploy officers on the locations that were placed by trash cans thus the perpetrators could be arrested. 

The janitors will undercover and spread to arrest the perpetrators. We are afraid they would sell the cans to Pargi Market and other places after doing their action

Deputy Head of Jakarta Cleanliness Department, Isnawa Adji admitted he has known many trash cans were destructed and stolen. 

"I had received a report from Head of Menteng Sub-District Cleanliness Section, as many as 14 trash cans are missing at 2 AM, whereas our officers placed them at 7 PM," he expressed, Sunday (3/15). 

1, 809 Animated Trash Cans Spread in Five Municipalities

Adji added his department intends to deploy janitors to the field for 24 hours. It aims to arrest the perpetrators.

"The janitors will undercover and spread to arrest the perpetrators. We are afraid they would sell the cans to Pargi Market and other places after doing their action," he added.

Besides that, the trash cans placement will be reviewed. In future, every can would be placed in the safer places, such as city parks and public areas like Pluit Dam, North Jakarta. 

"Perhaps, the placement should be re-adapted. That means, its existing does not no longer placed on the road thus damage caused by the irresponsible people can be avoided.
