Various ways are done by Jakarta Provincial Government to encourage people’s awareness not to throw trash haphazardly. One of those ways is by spreading 1,809 animated trash cans in five municipalities.
By providing cute trash cans, we hope the littering habit of citizens could be minimized
In West Jakarta alone, the animated trash cans are put in strategic locations in Kota Tua, Tamasari, such as Beos Station, Jalan Kali Besar, and Fatahillah Park. The trash cans’ shapes are various, like dolphins, frogs, pandas, watermelon, apple, and mango. They are also expected would beautify Kota Tua as a tourism destination.
“The shape is cute. Hopefully there would be less people littering,” expressed Sulis (30), a motorist met in front of Beos Station, Thursday (12/18).
Citizens’ Littering Habit, Jalan S Parman Prone to FloodingAccording to Head of Jakarta Cleanliness Department, Saptastri Edningtyas, Rp 9 billion was spent to make those animated trash cans. This is a part of Jakarta Provincial Government’s efforts to realize the program of ‘My Trash My Responsibility, My Jakarta Becomes Clean’.
