Again, Jakarta Wins Two Gold Medals in Popnas XVI

Karate athletes from Jakarta have won two gold medals at Popnas XVI in Palembang, South Sumatra.

Jakarta Karate athlete also won a silver medal

Jakarta Karate Team Manager, Uha Suhari said in the competition for Karate on the first day on Wednesday (8/30), the gold medals were won by Nadlima Layla in the Women's Individual Category and Muhammad Aiko Zaiko in the Men's Individual Category.

"Besides two gold medals, the Jakarta Karate athlete also won a silver medal, Rafenisia Claudia in the Women's Committee +56 Kilograms," he expressed, at the match site, Haji Dormitory, South Sumatera, Wednesday (8/30) evening.

Jakarta Wins Three Gold for Judo at Popnas XVI

He expressed his appreciation and thanks to all the athletes, coaches, and officials who had worked extraordinarily on the first day of the Karate competition.

"I feel proud of the Jakarta Karate sports team. Because I was happy, I gave appreciation money to the gold medal winner. This is a moment to show the results of training with achievements, don't waste it," he expressed.

For Karate sport, he explained a total of 17 events were competed for both men and women.

"Jakarta sent a total of 18 athletes in Karate sports consisting of 11 men and seven women," he explained.

He asked for prayers and support from all the people of Jakarta, thus the Karate sport would become the General Champion at Popnas XVI.

"Last year, we succeeded in becoming the General Champion for Karate. Hopefully, this year, Jakarta can be the best again," he added.

Meanwhile, a Jakarta Karate athlete who won a gold medal, Nadlima Layla admitted that she was very grateful, happy, and touched at the same time, as she had succeeded in presenting a gold medal for Jakarta.

"My thanks and gratitude to God. Thank you to my parents, especially my late mother, Mr. Uha as my team manager, trainers, officials, and friends who have supported and prayed for me," she exclaimed.

The same statement also came from the gold medalist male Karate athlete, Muhammad Akio Zaiko. He admitted, he did not expect to win a gold medal in Popnas XVI.

"My opponent in the final was very strong. I have played against him several times and always lost. But, thank God, I was able to beat him and win a gold medal," he said.
