Dimas Wins First Gold in Popnas for Jakarta Contingent

Dimas Priyo Prakoso successfully won the first gold medal for Jakarta at the Student Sports Week (Popnas) XVI in Palembang, South Sumatra.

He managed to beat Rasya Ramdhani from East Java who won the silver medal and Farel Defernando from West Sumatra who won the bronze medal.

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency Head, Andri Yansyah said he won the gold medal from the Men's 1,000 Meter Time Trial.

"Thank God, this is the first gold for Jakarta. Hopefully, it will be the start of the next gold medals for Jakarta to succeed in becoming the overall champion," he expressed while giving direct motivation at the Bicycle Race Venue, Jakabaring Sport City, Monday (8/28).

From the Cycling Race, he explained another Jakarta athlete, Shahnaz Gunantika Mumtaz won a bronze medal in the Women's 500 Meter Time Trial.

"I appreciate the athletes' struggle in this Popnas event. Hopefully, they competing in today's finals such as Weightlifting and Rowing can also get the best achievements," he explained.

According to him, the Jakarta Provincial Government was committed to paying great attention to outstanding athletes. Not only in the form of coaching cash bonuses but also education because the Popnas event is attended by students.

"Not only athletes, we will certainly appreciate the efforts of officials, especially coaches," he added.

On the other hand, Jakarta bicycle race athlete, gold medal winner, Dimas Priyo Prakoso, admitted that he was very grateful and happy for the achievements.

"I thank God. Thanks also to my parents, coaches, and friends who have prayed and supported me," he said.

This class XI student at Ragunan Athlete Special School also expressed his appreciation to Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency Head, Andri Yansyah, who had directly motivated athletes in Palembang.

"Thank you, sir, for being here in person. I hope other athletes can follow my achievements. Keep up the enthusiasm and fight hard to win a gold medal," he closed.
