Satpol PP: Illegal Parking, Street Vendors Remain Rampant in Tanah Abang

Central Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) deployed to control the area of Tanah Abang Market, Thursday (9/14).

Residents feel uncomfortable with illegal parking and street vendors

Central Jakarta Deputy Mayor, Chaidir said the area was controlled to follow up on residents' reports sent through 15 complaint portals.

"Residents feel uncomfortable with illegal parking and street vendors," he expressed, Thursday (9/14).

According to him, the action was in accordance with Bylaw Number 8/2007 on Public Order.

"To the location, we deploy 216 personnel of the national army (TNI), Satpol PP, Transportation Agency (Dishub), and urban village," he explained.

Hopefully, it could make pedestrians more comfortable and safe and effectively parse traffic jams at Tanah Abang Market.

Central Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Tumbur Parluhutan Purba added it was focused on Jalan Kebon Jati in front of the Block G Market and Jalan Jati Baru Raya, Jalan Jati Baru Kapal Api, Taman Jati Baru Bengkel, and Tanah Abang Jaklingko Station.

As a result, personnel managed to seize 67 items belonging to street vendors in the form of plastic chairs, carts, iron tables, conductors, umbrellas, drink boxes, and gadget accessory poles.

"Our hope is people will be aware that sidewalk occupation is not permitted and that there are regulations that everyone must obey," he asserted.
