Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono together with Transportation Minister, Budi Karya Samadi inaugurated the development of the Tanah Abang Station, Central Jakarta.

Its development was carried out by increasing the capacity of the station from previously being able to accommodate 105,000 passengers to 300,000 passengers.
As planned, it would be realized in three stages. The first stage is to increase the area of the main building by 12,000 square meters and increase the number of station platforms from two to six platforms.

"On behalf of the Jakarta Provincial Government, I would like to thank the Transportation Ministry for developing it, thus people can use public transportation more comfortably," he expressed, at Tanah Abang Station, Central Jakarta, Sunday (4/30).
He would ensure that the Jakarta Government would support the development plan. It includes ensuring ease in the process of building permits and increasing supporting facilities such as roads around stations from 10 to 16 rows.
"We fully support all the decisions of the Transportation Ministry and we will back up what KAI has asked for. This asset will be an additional Jakarta icon and when it's finished, I hope the community can take care of it," he asserted.
Transportation Minister, Budi Karya Sumadi uttered the Tanah Abang Station development on a 4-hectare land is in accordance with President, Joko Jokowi' Widodo's direction who stated that infrastructure development aimed at improving public services had to be increased.
Moreover, Tanah Abang Station is also a TOD center which does not only serve trade in Tanah Abang Market area. Its services are also widely accessed by workers in office areas around Monas and Jalan MH Thamrin.
"The movement of our brothers in Greater Jakarta is 1.2 million people. In the long term, we will increase the number of passengers we can carry to two million people per day," he stated.
