BMKG Continues to Implement Weather Modification Techniques

Some areas in South Jakarta reported experiencing rain on Sunday (9/17) afternoon.

Weather Modification Techniques (TMC) will continue to be conducted until September 20

BMKG's Meteorology Section Vice Head, Guswanto confirmed that the rain occurred on Sunday (9/17) afternoon was the application of the Weather Modification Technique (TMC).

"BMKG recorded 2.4mm of rain in Ciganjur, 4.6mm in Katulampa, 5.4mm in Ciawi Bend, and 4.4mm in Lebak," he expressed, in the writen statement, Monday (9/18).

He explained TMC in Greater Jakarta used the cloud seeding method with salt and water mist spraying or spraying water at a certain height from the plane starting from Halim Perdanakusumah Air Base.

Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Acting Head, Isnawa Adji explained the BMKG TMC team had conducted cloud seeding using CaCl2 solution on September 16 in Depok and South Tangerang areas with a total of 1,500 liters of CaCl2 solution.

"Weather Modification Techniques (TMC) will continue to be conducted until September 20 due to the potential for sufficient rain cloud growth in the Greater Jakarta area," he stated.
