Acting Governor Appoints 30 Members of Jakarta Arts Council

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono confirmed members of Jakarta Arts Council (DKJ) for the 2023-2026 term, at Great Hall, City Hall, Central Jakarta, Friday (9/22).

At that time, he inaugurated 30 members who are artists and arts activists where they were divided into several committees, namely the film, music, literature, fine arts, dance, and theater committees.

"I believe that all of you can carry out your duties as well as possible and with full responsibility. May God Almighty always guide and protect us all," he expressed, in the Jakarta Provincial Government's press release.

Jakarta Culture Agency Headz Iwan Henry Wardhana expressed the members who had just been inaugurated were the people chosen to make Jakarta proud, which has a mission as a cultural city. They were chosen after passing through a deliberation process by forming a deliberation committee carried out and initiated by the previous DKJ.

They had also gone through a selection and interview process by the Jakarta Academy.

"The Jakarta Academy says to the Acting Governor the names of worthy DKJ candidates, and the Acting Chairperson carried out the inauguration today. So, there is no interference at all in the election," he expressed.

According to him, the Jakarta Arts Council also conducted the vision and mission to advance Taman Ismail Marzuki as an arts ecosystem at a high level and increase the role of arts and culture from the lower levels.

"Increasing talent is the role of all members of the Jakarta Arts Council and hopefully we can involve many other parties to work together," he explained.

In the future, his party would also hold an event in collaboration with the Jakarta Arts Council on Taman Ismail Marzuki's Anniversary on November 10.

"We convey verbally to the Acting Governor to be present in commemorating the anniversary which will be filled with activities such as literature, film, fine arts, music, dance, all joining into one event," he explained.
