Jalan Petogogan Submerged Up to 1.5 Meters

Floods still inundate residential areas on Jalan Petogogan, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. Until 10 AM, the water level has reached 1.5 meters.

“Heavy rain plus floodwaters from upstream are causing overflowing of Krukut River,” said one of Petogogan residents, RT 04/03, Neti (34), Saturday (3/21).

Seven Urban Villages in Jakarta Flooded

According to Neti, the river is always overflowing during rainy season and causing flood.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, the water level is reaching 30-150 centimeters. Nevertheless, local residents are already familiar with this situation and still perform activities as usual

Besides Jalan Petogogan, similar condition is also spotted in another residential that is located at RT 12/01 Pondok labu Urban Village, Cilandak. The residential that located nearby the Grogol Riverbank is indeed prone to flood.

“Last night, the water level was 2 meters, and now it has been receded. Thus, we can go back to home,” said one of residents, Sairan (45).
