Dishub Finalizes Fines for Vehicles not Tested for Emissions Next Month

The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) will again hold raids on two- and four-wheeled vehicles that fail the emissions test starting November 2023.

Vehicles that fail the emissions test will be subject to a maximum fine by Rp 250,000 for two-wheeled vehicles and Rp 500,000 for four-wheeled vehicles according to Law no. 2/2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation.

Jakarta Dishub Head, Syafrin Liputo expressed his agency and the Jakarta Environmental Agency provided emission testing equipment at the point where the operation/raid was held.

According to him, vehicles known to have not been included in the E-Uji Emission database would be tested on site. If they failed the emissions test, they would be ticketed while being asked to carry out maintenance and another emissions test.

"So, the vehicle will enter the database if it has had an emissions test. Even, we mitigate it by having barriers, directing vehicles, thus there is no accumulation to avoid traffic jams," he expressed, Thursday (10/12).

He explained emissions testing was already available at 14 progressive parking locations and there would be the addition of 10 new points in the near future. Dishub is currently synchronizing data and is targeting a total of 121 emission test locations.

His party was intensively conducting outreach to the public and holding free emission tests with related parties. As a result, there had been a significant increase in the number of vehicles undergoing emissions tests for a period of one and a half months.

"In more or less the past month and a half we have held socialization and massive free emission tests, most recently colleagues from Polda Metro Jaya have carried it out. It means that people who were previously ignorant about taking emissions tests have now undergone emissions tests," he stressed," he closed.
