Heru: Jakarta ASN Must Have Neutrality Ahead of Election 2024

Approaching the General Election 2024, Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, reiterated the all state civil apparatuses (ASN) under the Jakarta Provincial Government must have a neutrality and prepare strategic steps to prevent conflict during the election.

It is aimed at keeping the atmosphere of the city of Jakarta conducive, safe, and peaceful.

"They (ASN) must be neutral. They are even prohibited from taking selfies with the presidential and vice presidential candidates, let alone sharing them on social media. That's what I want to warn you. I will also instruct all Echelon II officials to warn you of this again," he expressed, when he met with media crews at Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (10/18).

Nevertheless, he believed they were able to maintain neutrality as servants of the people during the election stages. By upholding neutrality, they could work to serve the community well.

"Trust them. Hopefully, they will uphold neutrality in their work so that they can continue to serve the people and work according to their respective duties and responsibilities well," he expressed, in the Jakarta Government's press release.

Based on observations by the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), Jakarta is one of the areas prone to conflict in the upcoming 2024 elections. Therefore, the Acting Governor continues to strive for city security by synergizing with various parties, such as the national army (TNI) and Police.

Hopefully, the Jakarta Government could work together to maintain city security, thus it remains conducive, comfortable, and peaceful.

"In fact, at the Polda Metro Jaya level, the Operation Mantab Brata Troop 2023-2024 Ceremony has been implemented. Then, the Jakarta National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol) has carried out various outreach activities. Then, I also asked the sub-district and urban village heads to do supervision and guard the area," he explained.

He also instructed sub-district and urban village heads to collaborate with community leaders in carrying out observations to be aware of the situation in the surrounding area.

"The hope is that media crews can also provide education about the election with good reporting and lighten the atmosphere in society," he hoped.
