Mud in West Flood Canal Dredged to Minimize Flooding

The West Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency continues to carry out flood prevention programs. One of them is by dredging mud in river bodies, reservoirs, and water channels. It is done to increase water holding capacity during the rainy season.
The work progress has touched 70 percent
Most recently, mud dredging was carried out in the West Flood Canal (KBB) which passes through the West Jakarta area, precisely from Kota Bambu Selatan Urban Village in Palmerah Sub-district to the Kalijodo RPTRA area in Angke Urban Village, Tambora Sub-district.
"KBB mud dredging is a program of the Jakarta SDA Agency, the work of which is carried out by sub-agencies in each region. Work has been conducted simultaneously since September 2023," expressed West Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Purwanti, Tuesday (11/14).

The work is divided into three segments, namely segment one in the South Bambu City area deploying two excavators, and segment two in the Season City area deploying four excavators, two each on the river body, and two on land. Lastly, or segment three in the Kalijodo area, four excavators were deployed, two on the river body and two on land.
As for the work in Angke Urban Village was completed. Currently, the work is still ongoing in the Bambu Selatan City and Season City areas.
"The work progress has touched 70 percent. Hopefully, it can accommodate rain water in large quantities in order to minimize flooding from the KBB," he stated.
