Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, inspected mud dredging work in the Ciliwung River, Bidara Cina Urban Village, East Jakarta, and Kebon Baru Urban Village, South Jakarta. It is in anticipation of the rainy season, Friday (11/10).
To optimize it, we'll send heavy equipment
He was accompanied by City Secretary, Joko Agus Setyono; Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency Acting Head, Ika Agustin, East Jakarta Mayor, M Anwar, as well as South Jakarta Mayor, Munjirin.
According to him, the Jakarta administration is dredging the Ciliwung River as a measure to anticipate flooding if the rainwater discharge is high.
Acting Governor Supports Promotion of Jakarta Through International Running Competitions"Today, it is focused on Kebon Baru and Bidara Cina. Since it is entering the dredging stage, we continue to reduce mud sedimentation. Mr. City Secretary says next week we, including ASN, will do cleanup action," he expressed, in the Jakarta administration's press release.
He also instructed the SDA Agency and Environment Agency to send personnel and heavy equipment to run optimal dredging. By so, Jakarta would be more ready to face flooding from outside the region when the rainy season arrives.
"To optimize it, we'll send heavy equipment. Before the SDA Agency, they must be alerted at all spots today. There are 240 units, they will be alerted to anticipate flooding," he explained.
He hoped that the mud dredging that had been carried out, especially in the Ciliwung River, could reduce the impact of flooding. He expressed that reducing the impact of flood risk is one of the Jakarta Provincial Government's strategic programs, so various efforts are being made seriously.
"Hopefully, we can do it maximally, even though some are still prone to flooding. As we know, Jakarta cannot avoid flooding. One of them is also due to land subsidence. Therefore, in certain areas, we also provide pumps," he explained.
He added all equipment belonging to the SDA Agency was also on standby to face the rainy season. Currently, the SDA Agency has 549 stationary pump units spread across 195 locations, 799 sluice gates in 547 locations, 566 mobile pumps, and 240 heavy equipment.
"There are mobile pumps, there are static pumps (which stand by). Like in Ancol, there are two additional pumps. In Gunung Sahari, there are additional pumps. In East Jakarta, there are also several additional reservoirs. We're trying all this to control floods in Jakarta," he concluded.
