Commission E Chairman is Proud of Jakarta as General Champion of POMNas XVIII

Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Commission E Chairman, Iman Satria expressed his high pride and appreciation for Jakarta's achievement as General Champion of the National Student Sports Week XVIII (POMNas), South Kalimantan.

"We're proud of the achievements of the Jakarta contingent athletes who managed to maintain the position of General Champion at the POMNas XVIII. Jakarta is General Champion 18 times in a row," he expressed, Friday (11/24).

He expressed that this achievement was also inseparable from the Jakarta Government's attention through the Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency and the Jakarta Indonesian Student Sports Development Agency (Bapomi) to the coaching carried out for athletes.

Jakarta Wins 68 Gold Medals at POMNas XVIII

"My thanks and appreciation to the athletes and officials, the Dispora Head and its staff, and Bapomi. We at the Legislative are committed to supporting Jakarta athletes to achieve the highest achievements, especially regarding the approval of budget allocations," he explained.

He asserted that athletes who win medals will also be given prizes in the form of appreciation money because they have succeeded in making Jakarta proud in competitions at the national level.

"We're also preparing prizes for athletes who win medals at POMNas. Commission E has also agreed on the budget allocation for 2024. Not only that, Insya Allah (God willing), shortly, the Acting Governor will meet with the athletes at the Great Hall," he explained.

For more comprehensive and optimal athlete development, it was expected that the Jakarta Government could immediately realize sports science facilities to produce outstanding athletes at national and international levels.

"POMNas can't yet be a parameter for Jakarta's success in PON, as many students happen to be studying in Jakarta so they can compete in POMNas representing Jakarta. Thereby, I want the need for sports science to be quickly realized," he uttered.

He added that the existence of sports science in Jakarta is essential, thus Jakarta is no longer inferior to West Java in pursuing the General Champion achievement in PON.

"We ask for prayers from Jakartans, thus we can again win the General Champion of PON XXI in Aceh-North Sumatra next year," he uttered.

As reported earlier, Jakarta succeeded in becoming the General Champion of POMNas XVIII with a score of 68 gold, 34 silver, and 48 bronze medals.

In the student sports competition that took place in South Kalimantan from  November 12-22, 2023, Jakarta also succeeded in becoming the General Champion in the sports of swimming, chess, martial arts, karate, and badminton.
