Rabies Vaccination in S. Jakarta Passes Target

South Jakarta Sub-dept. of Food Tenacity, Maritime and Agriculture (KPKP) has vaccinated 10,256 rabies-transmitting animals. This number is higher compared to the initial target by 9,724 animals.

South Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Hasudungan A Sidabalok, said the vaccination was done in Kebayoran Baru Sub-district by 790 animals, Mampang Prapatan by 1,126, Pancoran by 949, Tebet by 1,257, Setiabudi by 714 animals.

"Pesanggrahan by 958 animals, Kebayoran Lama by 801 animals, Cilandak by 1,144 animals, Pasar Minggu by 1,394 animals, and Jagakarsa by 1,123 animals," he said, Thursday (1/4).

According to him, this free vaccination was given as an effort to maintain public and animal health.

"Our target is maintaining Jakarta free of rabies predicate," he added.

The implementation of vaccination was mostly carried out by visiting resident's houses.

"The program targets both pets and non-owned animals especially cats and dogs," he continued.

Together with Jakarta Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI) and animal lover community have sterilized 1,196 cats.
