2023, Eight Rain Gardens Built in East Jakarta

Eight rain gardens were built in the park area or green belt area last year.

Rain garden functions to absorb rainwater

East Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-agency Head, Djauhar Arifin said the eight water rain gardens were designed to absorb rainwater from the surrounding area. It was built with a depth of between 1 to 1.5 meters.

"Rain garden functions to absorb rainwater. That's why, it was built in a basin model to absorb rainwater, thus it doesn't pool in the surrounding area," he expressed, Friday (1/5).

This Week, Mandor Hasan TMB and Kasia Park Integrated

Those eight rain gardens were built at Taman Maju Bersama (TMB), Jalan Mandor Hasan, Bambu Apus, covering an area of 800 square meters; at Viaduk Park, Jalan Sentra Timur known as Silalahi Roundabout area, Pulogebang; on the edge of Jalan Mayjen Soetoyo Cawang, Jalan TMII I Ceger, Jalan Ahmad Yani Matraman; and at Bauhinia Park ll Cakung, Cipayung Bamboo Park, Triangle Park on Jalan Lapangan Tembak.

"The average area of this rain garden is around 100 meters, except at TMB, Jalan Mandor which is 800 square meters," he concluded.
