Cengkareng Sub-district Implementer Unit for Water Resource, Jhon Tarigan, admitted elevating channel wall is also implemented on Jalan Outer Ring Road, in front of Satyagama University, RT 06/08, Cengkareng Timur Urban Village, Cengkareng Sub-district.

"The wall must be elevated to prevent water flooding the surrounding areas during heavy rain," he said, Sunday (1/7).

62 Channels in North Jakarta Concreted Using U-Ditch

Previously, the wall height was 70-80 cm. Now it is elevated to 150 cm. The work is implemented on both side, right and left, along 100 meters.

According to Jhon, the work was run in stages since October 14, 2023. By the early year now, the work is continued by deploying 13 personnel of SDA and PPSU.

"Now the work has reached 70 percent and is targeted to complete by the end of January," he added.

Firmanudin (52), local resident, admitted happy with the program. Previously, the area was easily inundated during heavy rain.

"I appreciate a lot for this job and hope there will be no more inundation," he hoped.
