Ten Hydrants in RW 07 Tengah Urban Village Inaugurated

Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat) Head, Satriadi Gunawan, inaugurated the Independent Hydrant in RT 06/07, Tengah Urban Village, Kramat Jati Sub-district, East Jakarta, Tuesday (1/9). There were about ten units of hydrants.

East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency Head, Muchtar Zakaria said the hydrant was built by the unit he leads in 2023. It is completed with several supporting infrastructure, such as a water tank with a volume of 14,000 liters which can be used for up to 40 minutes.

They were built in a residential area where fire engines cannot pass the local road access. Thus, if a fire occurs, residents can take initial extinguishing using these hydrants.
East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency's Prevention Section Head, Edi Parwoko added the operational use and installation of the pump machine was carried out by volunteer firefighters in the RW 07 Tengah Sub-district area who had taken part in fire management training.
"Hope they can operate it when fire occurs," he hoped.
RW 07 Tengah Urban Village Chairman, Yudhie Moeljono added residents were very happy with the existence of these hydrants.
"The hydrant is needed when the densely populated fire occurs," he stressed.
In the area, he admitted, there have been several fire incidents. However, it is difficult to handle because the access is narrow, fire trucks cannot pass it. Hopefully, the hydrant could help residents when a fire occurs. In the area, there are 11 neighborhoods with a population density of 7,600 people.
