Independent Hydrants Installed in 7 Areas in East Jakarta

East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency has installed hydrants in seven densely population areas. Those areas are difficult to be reached by fire truck.

The installation is aimed to handle fire quickly

Muchtar Zakaria, sub-agency's head, the installation is run in 10 sub-districts gradually. Especially densely population and far from water resource areas.

Ten Hydrants in RW 07 Tengah Urban Village Inaugurated

"The installation is aimed to handle fire quickly," he said, Thursday (1/11).

Edi Purwoko, sub-agency's prevention section head, explained those seven locations are RW 09 of Pisangan Baru Urban Village (Matraman) by 490 meters with eight hydrant boxes.

Next are RW 10 Ciracas (Ciracas) by 736 meters with 10 hydrant boxes, RW 11 Cipinang Besar Utara (Jatinegara) by 789 meters with 10 hydrant boxes, RW 08 Halim Perdanakusuma (Makasar) by 801 meters with 10 hydrant boxes.

Then RW 02 Baru (Pasar Rebo) by 948.7 meters with nine hydrant boxes, RW 15 Kayu Putih (Pulogadung) by 587.9 meters with nine hydrant boxes.

Meanwhile in RW 07 of Tengah Urban Village (Kramat Jati) which was launched on Tuesday (1/9), has 14,000 liters water tank that can be used up to 40 minutes. There is 10 hydrant boxes also.

"The hydrants have different hydrant box and pipe length. It depends on the area's condition," he added.

RW 07 Head of Tengah Urban Village, Yudhie Moeljono, appreciated the sub-agency's work by preparing hydrant in his area. He admitted that the hydrant is needed since his area is difficult to be accessed by fire truck.

"Local residents are happy with this," he admitted.
