Jakarta Coast Residents are Appealed to Alert with Tidal Wave

Jakarta Regional Disaster Handling (BPBD) Agency appealed resident living in north coastal area to be aware with tidal wave from January 21 to 27, 2024.

The agency head, Isnawa Aji, said the full moon phenomenon can cause high tide maximally in form of tidal wave in north Jakarta coastal area.

"BMKG's Tanjung Priok Maritime Class I Meteorology Station informed tidal wave could happen from January 21 to 27, 2024," he said, Sunday (1/21).

North Jakarta Sets SOP for Handling Rainy Season Disasters

The north coastal areas such as Kamal Muara, Kapum Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, Kalibaru and Muara Angke should anticipate tidal wave.

"High tide peak occurs from 7 AM to 11 AM," he added.

BPBD appeals the resident to monitor latest condition at bpbd.jakarta.go.id/gelombanglaut or pantaubanjir.jakarta.go.id and downloading guidebook at tiny.cc/bukusakusiagabanjir.

"Contact us at 112 for emergency situation," he closed.
