The Gotong Royong (Community Work) assessor visited waste management at RW 12 Cipinang Melayu Urban Village (Cipmel), Makassar, East Jakarta, Tuesday (1/23).
We only assess the BPS RW today
Assessor team consists of PLH Bureau, Government Bureau, and Environment Agency. They are focusing on waste management run by local Waste Management Board (BPS).
Cikini Urban Village Successfully Invite Resident to Sort WasteJakarta Environment Agency's Community Empowerment Sub-Group Head, Susi Andriani, said the assessment is done to seek province level winner after RW 12 of Cipinang Melayu Urban Village has been decided to represent Central Jakarta.
"We only assess the BPS RW today. The community work will be assessed next Sunday (1/27)," she said.
According to him, Jakarta Gotong Royong Lingkungan Asri Kota Lestari 2024 competition is held to reactive community environment management.
Makassar Sub-district Head, Mahfuz Muhammad Zein, admitted RW 12 Cipinang Melayu Urban Village is categorized as the best waste management and community's cohesiveness.
"Waste management program has effectively run here to decrease waste taken to Bantar Gebang dumpsite," he said.
Meanwhile RW 12 Head, Aspriyono Hanggo Djalu, admitted the sorting waste program has been running since November 2008. The inorganic waste is sorted and collected to the waste bank.
"We have collected 311 tons since 2008, or Rp 541.8 million. The money is taken back to residents who have collected the waste," he added.
According to him, waste is sorted every Tuesday on second and fourth week of the month. While for B3 ad PE plastic waste are sorted every Wednesday of the first week.
His side also sorting used cooking oil since December 2020 up to now. More than 6,000 liters or Rp 36 milion have been collected.
