E. Jakarta Deputy Mayor Opens Mayor's Cup Cricket Championship

East Jakarta Deputy Mayor, Iin Mutmainah, opened the Mayor's Cup Cricket Championship, Thursday (1/25). The championship held at the Ceger Football Field, Cipayung will last until Saturday (1/27).

According to her, this event, which is being held for the first time, is a breakthrough to further promote the sport of cricket in society, especially students and the young generation.

"We appreciate it and will continue to facilitate it. Hopefully, we can make outstanding cricket athletes from this championship," she expressed.

He also urged the participants to keep upholding sportsmanship, as losing and winning in one match is a common occurrence.

The similar statement also came out from East Jakarta Youth and Sports Sub-agency Head, Suyoto. This branch of cricket must continue to be developed. Moreover, during the PON 2021 in Papua, this sport managed to donate three gold medals to Jakarta.

"We support this Cricket championship," he asserted.

East Jakarta Mayor's Cup Cricket Championship Committee Chairman, Repen Desnika added the championship was attended by junior and elementary school students with 20 teams each participating. So, there were a total of 40 male and female student teams.

"There are actually a lot of fans, but because of time and place, we limit it. This is an opportunity to look for superior seeds with achievements," he concluded.

He mentioned the first winner of this championship would get the East Jakarta Mayor's Cup and a set of cricket playing equipment. Meanwhile, the second and third winners received cricket playing equipment.

"This prize is very important to support and develop the sport of Cricket in the school environment," he stated.
