The meeting that will be held up to January 31, 2024 was attended by OPD and BUMD heads. The participants learned explanation of various aspects about global city from Rhenald Kasali and MAKPI Head, Riant Nugroho.

Then there will be a presentation regarding the results of the evaluation of the implementation of activities in 2023 and planning for 2024 and 2025 from the Head of Bappeda and the Jakarta Provincial Inspector as well as a discussion of various strategic issues divided into nine working groups (pokja).

Jakarta Regional Secretary, Joko Agus Setyono, said Act No 3/2022 about Capital City has been issued. It means Jakarta must be ready with new status as Jakarta Special Region.

Jakarta is projected to become a global scale business, economic and financial center that will compete with other global cities in attracting investment and quality resources after the capital city moves.

Agus explained that various surveys show that there are still many sectors that need to be improved and prepared to become a global city. According to him, Jakarta still has to catch up in the fields of economy, research and development, cultural interaction, livability, environment and accessibility.

"Apart from that, Jakarta still has various problems that never end, such as flooding, population density and mobility, traffic jams, air pollution, land subsidence, waste, unskilled labor, and stunting. We have done a lot, the progress is encouraging, but we admit that we still have a lot to complete," he said.

He explained that this coordination meeting is an effort to resolve various problems in Jakarta in order to improve the quality of services to the community, for the success of Jakarta.

Since future's challenge will be more difficult, he appealed Jakarta Provincial Government officials to prepare. Officials are asked to create a bureaucracy that meets the demands of a global city. As a consequence, the ranks of Jakarta Provincial Government must have adequate competence to be able to meet the demands and needs of the global city community.

"I hope that the speakers will be able to provide a real picture of the various opportunities and challenges in the future, and what we must prepare so that we can be successful in realizing a global city," he added.

He continued that there are several benefits from this Coordination Meeting, including providing a more comprehensive understanding of various problems and potential strategic problems (risks) faced by the Jakarta Provincial Government, becoming a common guide in resolving various problems in Jakarta and a planning evaluation tool.

He hopes that the results of the identification of various problems and potential problems should be updated regularly and include various other strategic issues in accordance with situation changes.

Jakarta will be better prepared to face various problems that arise in the implementation of development programs if those steps are implemented.
