A Futsal Court will Be Built on Riverbank of West Flood Canal

Central Jakarta Sports and Youth Sub-Department is going to build a futsal court on the ex-demolishment land or precisely at the riverbank of West Flood Canal (KBB), Jalan Petamburan I, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

According to Edward Situmeang, Head of Central Jakarta Sports and Youth Sub-Department, expressed the futsal court construction is a request of local citizens, especially the youth because sport facility is very lacking.

“We had offered another facility like badminton court. But locals prefer the futsal court rather than badminton. That's why we just build futsal court,” he expressed, Wednesday (4/15).

Later on, the futsal court would have a width of 8x25 meters. Besides sport arena, the locals can also use it for other activities, such as wedding and meeting room.

“We're also going to build a fence around the court, thus the ball does not fly out of the building. The construction will be done after the fund is disbursed,” he explained.

He continued the spotlights will also be installed thus citizens can conduct activity until night. For maintenance, citizens will be involved.

"Hopefully, the citizens are willing to maintain the court well without damaging it. Considering it is free of charge,” he disclosed.
