West Jakarta PMI Distributes 3,000 Basic Food Packages

West Jakarta Indonesia Red Cross (PMI) held joint breakfasting as well as distributing alms for orphans, poor people and the elderly. There were 3,000 packages of basic food packages distributed to them, Tuesday (3/26).

West Jakarta Mayor, Uus Kuswanto, appreciated the program which is held routinely every year.

"In the name of West Jakarta Administration, thanks for West Jakarta PMI holding this program," he said.

According to him, this appreciation is of course due to the achievements made by West Jakarta PMI in carrying out various humanitarian activities, starting from blood donation, disaster relief, and PMI fund month.

West Jakarta PMI Head, Beky Mardani, stated the 3,000 basic food packages were distributed to eight sub-districts in West Jakarta.

The packages's distribution targeted garbage collectors and street sweepers, bicycle taxi drivers, train gate officers, crossing boatmen, orphanages, elderly and nursing homes.

West Jakarta PMI has distributed 150 basic food packages just before holding this program.

Saridan (81), resident of RT 01/01, Wijayakusuma Urban Village, Grogol Petamburan Sub-district, thanked West Jakarta PMI for distributing the alms.

"It's very useful for my family," he stated.
