to avoid the accumulation of waste

North Jakarta Environment Sub-agency Head, Edy Mulyanto, said this collaborative activity is in the context of forming agents of change in the school environment which the Lions Club continues to intensify during 'Lions Go to School' program together with Environment Sub-agency.

Waste Facilities Distributed to 288 RWs in South Jakarta

"The activity was attended by IV and V students. We provide them with guidance and understanding of the importance of sorting waste before putting it in the trash," he said Friday (4/26).

He added that the understanding provided about types of waste includes organic, non-organic and reduced waste. Waste sorting is carried out to make it easier when it is reprocessed, especially those that produce economic value.

Apart from that, waste sorting is carried out to avoid the accumulation of waste. This is because accumulated rubbish can become a nest for germs and bacteria which are the main causes of disease.

This activity, he added, is not only educational, but invites them to care about the environment as well as educating them about unused goods becoming economic circulation.

Environment Sub-agency together with Lions Club also provided mountrash dropbox and three color rubbish bin.

Meanwhile, one of SDN 07 Sunter Agung teachers, Intan, thanked Lions Club and Environment Sub-agency for choosing her schools for this program.

"This activity is very good. We have also taught students to reduce waste at school by bringing drinking bottles and food containers from home," she admitted.
