Semongol River Dredged to Accommodate Water Maximally

West Jakarta Mayor, Uus Kuswanto, inspected the dredging work on the Semongol River in the Tegal Alur area, Kalideres.

According to him, the dredging was conducted to resolve flood problem due to overflowing waters of the Semongol River that was reported by residents in the Musrenbang 2024 forum.

"Thanks God, it has been ongoing now," he expressed, Wednesday (5/8).

According to him, it was divided into three segments with details of Jalan Kapuk Kamal Raya - Risma Bridge; Risma Bridge - Jalan Menceng Raya; and Jalan Menceng Raya - Jalan 1 Maret.

"Hope the river can accommodate water in large quantities," he hoped.

West Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Purwanti Suryandari expressed the dredging has been ongoing since Thursday (5/2) by sending five units of excavator, consisting of two big-sized amphibious, two small-sized amphibious, and one long-arm excavator.

"This week, we will send two big-sized units to Jalan Kapuk Kamal Raya to Risma Jembatan," she explained.

She added the river was around 10 meters wide but narrowed to five meters at several points.

"We can't determine when it will be completed due to terrain conditions. The mud will be dumped into Ancol using dozens of trucks," he said.
