City Intensifies Campaign to Overcome Pollution at Pandawa RPTRA

As many as 100 people enlivened campaign and educational activities entitled "Clean Air for Jakarta" at Pandawa RPTRA, RT 08/05 Tanah Tinggi Urban Village, Central Jakarta initiated by Jakarta Health Agency and Jakarta Environment Agency, Tuesday (5/14).

Jakarta Health Agency Vice Head, Dwi Oktavia Handayani stated the campaign is one of a series of emergency response strategies to anticipate potential declines in air quality during the dry season.

Based on a face-to-face perception study conducted by his party with 400 respondents at ten sub-district level health centers, in December 2023, it was discovered that residents were aware and knew the sources that cause air pollution. However, agreement rates decreased when asked about actions that could be taken to reduce emissions.

Jakarta Anticipates Decline in Air Quality Ahead of Dry Season

"This means that the challenge of educational promotion is to encourage people to change their behavior as a group," he stated, Tuesday (5/14).

He went on to say that air pollution control has many dimensions. Therefore, upstream handling of issues regarding emission sources must be in harmony with downstream handling.

"When air quality decreases, people should use public transportation and undergo emissions tests on private vehicles," he asserted.

Central Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head, Rismasari added the activity, which aims to increase public awareness of overcoming impacts and minimizing pollution, began with a parade in the residential area of RW 05 Tanah Tinggi Urban Village residents.

This campaign was also filled with various education programs with interesting methods of delivering material, as well as presenting 10 culinary SMEs with products using healthy and environmentally friendly raw materials.

"We're about to synergize with all departments for a healthy campaign to reduce pollution," he uttered.
