55 Parking Attendants Caught from 45 Minimarts in Jakarta

The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has noted that as many as 55 illegal parking attendants have been netted from 45 minimarts yesterday, Wednesday (5/15).

This is done humanistically and persuasively

It is done based on Jakarta Bylaw Number 8/2007 on Public Order Article 10, namely, every person or entity is prohibited from collecting parking fees on streets or public places, unless they obtain permission from the Governor or an appointed official.

Jakarta Dishub Head, Syafrin Liputo said that as the intial stage, the joint team would hold outreach and collect data on illegal parking attendants for the next month.

According to him, his party has a team at the provincial and regional levels tasked with carrying out routine sweeping and enforcement in all areas of Jakarta. He explained, illegal parking attendants would be recorded, trained, and made a statement not to repeat the same action.

"This is done humanistically and persuasively through guidance and education to illegal parking attendants. They are expected not to carry out illegal parking practices," he explained, Thursday (5/16).

He explained his party would apply minor criminal sanctions to illegal car drivers who were found operating in minimarkets and on the side of the road after the one-month socialization period was over.

He added the public could report the presence of illegal parking attendants via the JAKI application or the Dishub's official social media channels.

"The public, please report any complaints regarding the inconvenience of illegal parking to us. Report the location and we will take action," he stated.
