E. Jakarta Satpol PP Implements Fines to Suppress Dengue Cases

The East Jakarta Satpol PP is about to impose fines on residents if Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae are detected in their homes to suppress the spread of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases.

24 residents were given SP1

East Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Budhy Novian said the fine sanction refers to article 21 jo 22 paragraph 1 Bylaw number 6/2007 on controlling dengue fever. This article applies a maximum fine by Rp 50 million or imprisonment of two or three months.

Before being imposed sanctions, residents whose homes mosquito larvae are detected during PSN implementation will first be given a warning letter. In the initial stage, residents are given a first warning letter (SP1).

"Issuing warning letters began to be implemented last Friday. As a result, 24 residents were given SP1 because mosquito larvae were detected in their homes. Most of them were in Ciracas, Jatinegara, and Matraman sub-districts," he expressed, Monday (6/3).

If it was ignored, a second warning would be given to them. "If they receive a warning letter three times, they must undergo trial for minor offenses (Tipiring)," he explained.

East Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head, Herwin Meifendy revealed It is the authority of Satpol PP to impose sanctions, namely by taking action following applicable regulations.

"We urge residents to continue to intensity the PSN 3M Plus in a bid to minimize dengue fever cases maximally," he asserted.

From January to May 2024, there were 2,229 dengue cases in ten sub-districts, with details of 336 in Pasar Rebo, 300 in Cakung, 285 in Kramat Jati, 275 in Ciracas, 239 in Matraman, 210 in Duren Sawit, 200 in Cipayung, 159 in Pulogadung, 141 in Jatinegara, and 84 in Makasar.

Based on the results of vector surveillance activities reported via e-silantor, as many as 38,665 houses and buildings were inspected for mosquito larvae during PSN.

From that number, It is known that the number of houses positive (+) for larvae is 2,667 and those negative (-) for larvae are 35,988 or the larvae-free rate (ABJ) is 93.08 percent.
