East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency reminds residents to pay attention to electrical installation at their house to anticipate fire.

East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency Head, Muchtar Zakaria, said his side reminds the residents since lately fire cases were mostly caused by short circuit electricity.

"We remind you, pay attention to the use of electrical installations, cable connection systems and the use of sockets. If there is damage, it must be repaired immediately," Muchtar said, Wednesday (6/11).

Muchtar explained that excessive use of the socket will cause heat in the cable and can cause an electrical short circuit which can lead to a fire.

Muchtar also reminded residents to avoid gas leaks through the regulator. If it leaks, immediately remove it and recheck its condition.

"Don't leave the gas stove on, this is important because it could start a fire," he added.

East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency's Prevention Section Head, Edi Parwoko, admitted socialization of fire prevention and handling will continue to be carried out at all times in the community. Not only in residential areas, socialization is also carried out in government offices, private sectors or other public places.

"This is to educate the public so they know how to prevent and deal with fires," he admitted.

According to him, there were 395 programs held during January to June. Of that number, 39 programs were held by using Local Budget with 20-35 participants per program. Then 356 programs were held by involving CSR with 50-300 participants per program.

The programs were held at RT or RW Secretariate, resident houses, empty land, and RPTRA.
