The Jakarta Environmental Agency intensifies monitoring and law enforcement against air pollution as one of the strategies for dealing with air pollution in Jakarta.
Those who exceed quality standards will get sanctions
Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto said his party would conduct active measurements on 68 chimneys from various industrial/service sectors during 2024.
According to him, it was not only done during the day but also at night to ensure that pollution did not occur at night considering that several industrial activities also operate at night.

Previously, his party had conducted operational monitoring of the Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) and chimney emissions measurements of the steel smelting industry in East Jakarta.
He explained the steel smelting industry is one industry that has the potential to make a significant contribution to ambient air (referring to Jakarta Governor's Decree 670/2000).
The PPH Division Team which consists of Environmental Monitoring officials was dispatched to check the results of stationary source emission measurements on the industrial Barmill chimney. He added, the Environmental Agency routinely monitors other companies that have the potential to pollute Jakarta's air.
"Hopefully, all industries will immediately improve their environmental management so as not to cause environmental pollution from their operational activities in the future," he hoped.
