100 Animals in Lagoa Receive Anti-Rabies Vaccination

As many as 100 rabies-infecting animals in four RWs, Lagian Urban Village, Koja Sub-district, North Jakarta, received anti-rabies vaccination.

It aims to maintain Jakarta rabies-free

North Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Sub-agency (KPKP) Head, Unang Rustanto said the door-to-door vaccination service was held in each the RW Secretariat office.

"It aims to maintain Jakarta rabies-free while ensuring the safety and health of animals and humans," he expressed, Wednesday (7/3).

He detailed, there were 22 cats vaccinated in RW 01, Lagoa Urban Village; five cats in RW 04; 56 cats, six dogs, and two monkeys in RW 07; one monkey and eight cats in RW 05.

"It has been ongoing since July 1. We have been coordinating with three RWs to announce free vaccination services to its residents," he expressed.

To get it, residents must have a Jakarta ID card and be domiciled in Jakarta, the animal must be at least four months old, in good health, and not pregnant or breastfeeding.

"We also provide vitamins for pets who are sick or have the flu. Hopefully, by providing vaccines and vitamins, the animals and their owners will maintain their health," he explained.

The service received appreciation from one of the residents in RW 07, Lagoa Urban Village, Irma (44).

Apart from providing health to pets, this vaccination service also provided protection for pet owners.

"My two cats have been vaccinated, this service makes things easier for people. Moreover, isn't paid or free because if you get the vaccine at a pet shop or clinic, the cost is also quite expensive," she admitted.
