Jakarta Indonesia Red Cross (PMI) held several events to commemorate World Blood Donor Day 2024 at Silang Monas, Gambir, Central Jakarta.
Jakarta Provincial Government has the most assistance to PMI
PMI Chairman, Jusuf Kalla, said blood is very important for life. The need for blood in Jakarta is also very high, reaching around 1,000 blood bags for transfusion.

Jusuf Kalla also appreciates Jakarta Provincial Government's support for PMI. It is including Jakarta PMI Office's total renovation worth Rp 200 billion.
"Jakarta Provincial Government has the most assistance to PMI. Thank you," he added.
Jakarta PMI Chairman, Rustam Effendi, explained this year's commemoration theme is 'Celebrating 20 Years Thanks to Blood Donors'.
"Today's events were started with joint exercise, HDDS competition, mass blood donor, giving awards to 67 people and 12 blood donor group agencies active in 2023 and 2024 and up to giving door prizes," he explained, Sunday (7/14).
Rustam invited people to commemorate World Blood Donor Day to strengthen commitment to continue helping others by donating blood regularly. Because, every drop of blood is hope and life for others.
"For those who have donated blood, we thank you because you are unsung heroes who have saved many lives. For those who have never been, I invite you to start today and take part in this humanitarian movement," he continued.
Meanwhile, Acting Jakarta Regional Secretary's Community Welfare Assistant, Suharini Eliawati, stated Jakarta Provincial Government supports all Jakarta PMI event.
"Jakarta Provincial Government is ready to collaborate with PMI to bring blood donation services closer to the community," she stated.
Elly appreciated the giving of rewards to donors who have made a great contribution to humanity in helping others. So, this policy will also provide motivation for those who have donated or not.
"As said earlier, donors who donate more than 150 time will be given appreciation in form of Umrah. Then for those of other religions, the rewards are adjusted. I appreciate this much," she stated.
