Hundreds of Vehicles in South Jakarta Netted from July 1 to 6

The South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency has noted that as many as 703 motorcycles have been netted from ten sub-districts with various violations from July 1 to 6, 2024.

This operation refers to Bylaw number 5/2014 on Transportation

South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency's Operation Management Section Head, Emiral August said the operation was done to give a deterrent effect for those who violate traffic.

"Every day, we hold a routine operation together with 40 personnel of South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, Satpol PP, and army/police," he expressed, Wednesday (7/17).

He explained the operation was focused on motorcycles, cars, and bajajs until public minivans with sanctions given in the form of a tire flattening operation (OCP), towing, ticket, Transportation Agency dossier (BAP), and police BAP.

"This operation refers to Bylaw number 5/2014 on Transportation. It is done for vehicles parked on sidewalks, road shoulders, and bicycle lanes," he explained.

He added If there was an owner at the location, a ticket would be issued by the Traffic Police. But, if the owner was not on site, the vehicle would be grounded to local Transportation Sub-agency offices.

"If the owner wants to redeem their vehicles, they must show a ticket and make a statement that they will no longer repeat the act of breaking the rules," he explained.

He urged the building owners to provide a parking lot facility for employees, to make Jakarta residents more orderly.

"Hopefully, residents can better understand the importance of orderly traffic. Parking haphazardly doesn't disturb the rights of pedestrians or cyclists, triggers traffic jams, but also disturbs order, security, comfort, and beauty of the city," he hoped.
