Waste Sorting Education Encouraged in West Jakarta

Waste sorting education keeps encouraged to residents. As many as 50 residents of Gang Masjid, RT 02/05, Angke Urban Village, Tambora Sub-district, West Jakarta, were educated about waste sorting.

Waste is important to be handled early

Angke Urban Village Secretary, Anjas Umaryadi, said his side involved community to hold the training for RT/RW, LMK, karang taruna, and PKK cadre.

"Waste is important to be handled early. This is also to reduce the volume of waste dumped into the Bantar Gebang Dump Site," he said, Tuesday (7/30).

Sehati Waste Bank Contributes in Waste Matter

Representative of the Gemar Rapi Community, Aang Hudaya, explained the importance of waste management starting from households with the 3AH concept, namely preventing the use of plastic waste, sorting waste, and processing waste.

"Sorted waste will be more useful. Organic waste such as leftover food, vegetable scraps can be made into compost or eco enzyme. Waste that has economic value can be saved in a Waste Bank or donated. Then inorganic waste that has less economic value can be made into eco bricks," he added.

RT 02/05 Head, Angke Urban Village, Zikri Yusman, appreciated the education program for residents.

"Hopefully residents can start to sort household waste and manage waste wisely," he hoped.
