Handing Over JIA Awards 2024, Acting Governor Heru Pushes Sustainable Investment Climate

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono presented an award at the Jakarta Investment Award (JIA) 2024.

Investment by business actors in Jakarta has had a positive impact

This activity is held as an appreciation to investors who have contributed to the Jakarta economy and conducted their obligations and responsibilities following applicable regulations.

It was also attended by the Investment Vice Minister/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Vice Head, Yuliot Tanjung and representatives of ambassadors from friendly countries.

City Continues to Push for School Building Improvements

Acting Governor said investment is an important component in realizing Jakarta as a global business center. It was done starting from planning, implementation, and investment control in line with the principle of ease of business licensing services, thus it can increase investment in Jakarta.

"Investment by business actors in Jakarta has had a positive impact on the city's economy, especially in terms of workforce absorption. Thank you to the Investment Ministry/BKPM, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, and all parties who have become strategic partners in making the JIA 2024 event a success," he explained, at Rafles Hotel, South Jakarta, Wednesday (7/31) night.

The JIA 2024 event received appreciation from Investment Vice Minister/BKPM Vice Head, Yuliot Tanjung. According to him, the Jakarta Government has innovated in creating a healthy investment climate in Jakarta. It was assessed from the way regulations were drawn up, bureaucratic services, and evaluations to create sustainability in the investment climate.

"We see that Jakarta has innovated in serving, as well as evaluating investors so that sectors can develop. It can be run well and is also part of the innovation developed by the Jakarta Government with investors. So, with the award (JIA) given to business actors, it will give comfort and extraordinary appreciation to investors who have invested in Jakarta," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta Government's press release.

Jakarta Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Agency (DPMPTSP) Head, Benni Aguscandra explained that JIA 2024 was implemented following the mandate of the Investment Coordinating Board Regulation Number 5/2021 on Guidelines and Procedures for Risk-Based Business Licensing Supervision. It aims to provide appreciation to business actors who have carried out business activities and participated in building the economy in Jakarta.

"In addition, it is expected to improve the quality of relations between local governments and business actors, and become a motivation for business actors to increase their productivity, which will then have an impact on increasing investment value in Jakarta," he explained.

It is divided into sixteen categories with a total of 50 winners consisting of Domestic Investment (PMDN), Foreign Investment (PMA), and representatives of foreign countries of origin of the PMA.

One of the recipients of the 2024 JIA award, PT Midplaza Prima, represented by Haris Martin, appreciated the facilities provided by the Jakarta Government in the investment sector.

"We think Jakarta has run its duties well. We appreciate all forms of cooperation, both in terms of service and also the investment climate here is also very conducive. Hopefully, with Jakarta's goal of becoming a global business city, it can further improve the investment climate in the future," he added.

Jakarta as the center of national economic activities is a priority destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) and domestic direct investment (DDI) in various sectors. In 2023, Jakarta's contribution to national economic growth will reach 16.77 percent of Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Jakarta's economic growth is driven by increasing investment. Throughout 2023, investment realization in Jakarta reached Rp 166.7 trillion (PMDN by Rp 95.2 trillion and PMA by Rp 71.5 trillion), placing Jakarta as the province with the second-highest investment contribution nationally.

Based on the release submitted by the Indonesian Ministry of Investment, until the first semester of 2024, Jakarta has achieved investment realization by Rp 120.4 trillion, or 60.6% of the national target, with the highest PMDN realization nationally.
