Central Jakarta City Park and Forestry Sub-agency Head, Mila Ananda, said this is part of Friday planting program. At this time, the planting was only attended by Jakarta City Park and Forestry Agency Head, Bayu Meghantara.

"We planted yellow tabebuia," he said, Friday (8/2).

This tree planting is part of an effort to overcome the impacts of climate change. The activity targets a number of locations such as road median areas, empty land and sidewalk areas.

It is expected the planting will add aesthetics and make the area more shady and overcome air pollution.

"Trees in Central Jakarta are needed since it is a heavy traffic area," he added.

Central Jakarta City Park and Forestry Sub-agency's Green Line and Cemetery Section Head, Budi Hidayat, explained the planting involved 30 personnel.

"We planted 53 pink tabebuia and 23 yellow tabebuia trees," he explained.
