Tanjung Priok Health Center Intensifies Round II of Polio Immunization

The Tanjung Priok sub-district Health Center, North Jakarta continues to intensify the National Immunization Week (PIN) for Polio Round II for children 0-7 years old. The second phase of Polio immunization will take place from August 12 to 23, 2024.
The achievements in the first round are 99.8 percent of the target
Tanjung Priok Sub-district Health Center Head, Sahruna said that in Tanjung Priok, the immunization targeted 49,048 children aged 0-7 years.
"The achievements in the first round are 99.8 percent of the target. In the second round which has been taking place since August 12, there are 18,848 children or 38.4 percent immunized against Polio," he expressed, Wednesday (8/14).

Then in Papanggo Urban Village, there were 99.6 out of 5,881 children; Warakas 99.6 of 6,643 children; Sunter Jaya 99.6 of 9,364 children; and Tanjung Priok 99.5 of 5,049 children.
"Thus far, community participation is still quite high, and even public understanding of health is increasing. Moreover, this immunization is important to prevent the Polio virus," he explained.
Besides deploying personnel, his side involved TP PKK cadres, posyandu, RT/RW to public figures, to intensify immunization.
"It is held from health center, hospital, school, RPTRA, secretariat office, place of worship, to crowd places. On weekend, we usually hold it in busy centers such as markets, malls, parks, and children's playgound areas," he added.
He hoped that cooperation with all sectors could run smoothly, thus the achievements of the second round of polio immunization in Tanjung Priok could be met.
"Insya Allah (God willing), it can reach 100 percent or at least the same as when administering the first dose," he said.
Sunter Agung Urban Village Acting Head, Eka Persilian Yeluma added cooperation with elements of society continues to be made in order to maximize vaccination.
"As for the first stage, we succeeded in providing immunization to 10,282 children aged 0-7 years. Hopefully, in this second stage of immunization, community participation will remain high because it is very important for health," he stated.
