Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Agency holds Urban Farming Ambassador 2024 in order to commemorate World Food Day and Urban Farming Festival 2024.

This event aims to promote urban agriculture and socialize that urban farming activities can be participated in by all groups, especially the younger generation.

There are 25 participants have registered since August 15, 2024 by 10 men and 15 women. Age restriction for participant is 17 to 30 years old.

Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Agency's Agriculture Division Head, Mujiati, said Urban Farming Ambassadors are expected to be agents of change who are able to invite the community to utilize existing land for farming, participate in urban farming activities, and support greening and food security.

"These Urban Farming Ambassadors will be assigned according to the programs we have planned. They will play a role in campaigning for urban farming in Jakarta, inviting the community to get involved in farming around us," she said, Tuesday (8/20).

Mujiati added another important requirement to become an Urban Farming Ambassador is that participants must have experience practicing urban farming in their respective locations. In addition, they are also expected to be active on social media to spread information about urban farming to the public.

The selection process begins with an initial curation that will narrow down the number of participants to a minimum of seven pairs of finalists. The finalists will then be selected as 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place and Favorite Ambassador.

"Applicants will undergo an interview session with the judges and finalists will be invited to various agricultural locations to carry out planting, harvesting and fish stocking activities. Their activities on social media will also be one of the elements of the assessment," she added.

The following are the participant requirements:

- Boys and Girls aged 17 to 30 years

- Domiciled or working in Jakarta

- Include a certificate of domicile

- Caring and active in urban farming activities

- Active on social media

- Easy going and willing to learn new things

- Have no criminal record

- Willing to participate in activities during September 2024

- Not currently serving in another contest or already having obtained permission.

The series of activities are as follows:

- Registration (August 15-27, 2024)

- Selection (August 30, 2024)

- Quarantine (September 9-13, 2024)

- Final (September 19, 2024)
