Fire Destroys 2 Buildings in Penjaringan

Thus far, police are still investigating its cause

A massive fire gutted a house and a wood storage which are located at Jalan Kapuk Indah Blok K7 No. 1, RT 03/03, Kapuk Muara Urban Village, Penjaringan Sub-District, Tuesday (5/5), around 9.50 PM. There was no casualty reported in the incident, and the material loss reached Rp 1 billion.

Around 23 fire trucks of North Jakarta and West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Management Sub-Departments immediately sent to the storage belongs to Hadi W. They managed to control the situation within 6 hours.

North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Management Sub-Department Head, Eddy Putranto said the flames could be put out at 4.30 AM. "We have difficulties to put out the flames due to lots of wood piles inside the building," he expressed.

Besides that, fire also destroyed a house as wide as 120 square meters next to the storage. Despite there was no casualty, but a firefighter, Bimo (25) immediately rushed to the Koja Community Health Center (Puskesmas) because his eyes injured after being hit by the burned sawdust.

Temporary allegation, the cause of the fire is electricity short-circuit. "Thus far, police are still investigating its cause," he finished.
