"The channel is narrowed so it can not accommodate water. That's why we run the dredging," he said, Friday (9/13).

Nandi explained the dredging is applied along 161 meters with 60 cm of width and 80 cm depth. The initial stage of this work was carried out by digging the channel and continued by making the channel wall with basic materials of river stone, sand, and cement.

"We'll also cover the channel with U-ditch," he explained.

He added that five personnel are involved to start the dredging since end of August ago.

"Now the progress reaches 50 percent since we do it with manual equipment. It is predicted to complete in early October," he added.

One of RW 07 residents, Rossa (35), thanked and appreciated the dredging.

"The area was always inundated during rainy season. Hopefully it will complete soon to avoid inundation," she admitted.
