"The program is also held in five cities and Seribu Island. Our target is student," she said, Thursday (9/19).

Rismiati explained that the program at SDN Pulau Panggang 02 Pagi was participated by 100 students of class III up to V. They were taught the causes of rabies, how it is transmitted, animals that transmit rabies, and rabies prevention for transmitting animals.

"We also collaborate with Health and Education Agencies, as well as animal husbandry and animal health business," she explained.

She hopes the students will be an ambassador of information about rabies in their families and environment. The spread of rabies is not only the responsibility of government, but also society.

"Jakarta Provincial Government also tries to maintain its status as a rabies-free city since 2004," she added.

SDN Pulau Panggang 02 Pagi Headmaster, Basuki, appreciated and thanked all parties involved in the program.

Basuki said the education is important for student to know the danger of rabies and how to handle if bitten by an animal that transmits rabies.

"I thought that rabies is only transmitted by dog. Now I understand that cat can also transmit it. There are many cats on the island," he said.

Meanwhile, one of students, Chika Syafa'a Fauziah (11), admitted the education was useful for her to know more about rabies.

"We also get goodie bag and food for pet," she admitted.
