Acting Governor Heru Affirms Commitment to Good Governance and Anti-Corruption

The synergy event between Jakarta Provincial Government and the Indonesian Attorney General's Office was initiated by the Jakarta Inspectorate and the Attorney General's Information Center (Puspen), as part of the 79th Anniversary of the Attorney General's Office.

It is hoped that strategic cooperation will be established through this event to realize good governance and strengthen anti-corruption commitment.

Heru became a resource person of the Om Jak Menjawab Talkshow and the 2024 Public Information Transparency Publication Podcast of the Indonesian Attorney General's Office. Heru was also accompanied by Jakarta Inspector, Syaefuloh Hidayat; Central Jakarta Mayor, Dhany Sukma; and Satpol PP Head, Arifin.

Heru said and education program for State Civil Apparatus (ASN) and the community to increase legal awareness, as well as the danger of unlawful practices including online gambling are the main initiatives in this synergy.

ASN are not only encouraged to understand the dangers of corruption, but also to become agents of change in their environment through the Jaksa Mengajar program organized by the Attorney General's Office.

It is expected the active role of the community in protecting themselves from illegal activities will increase through collaboration with community and religious leaders.

"An understanding of the legal rules related to online gambling must be provided by the government to the public. Then the public provides education to fellow citizens about the dangers of online gambling," Heru said, as quoted from Jakarta Province's PPID press release, Sunday (9/22).

To spread awareness of the negative impacts of these illegal activities, Jakarta Provincial Government is also actively conducting anti-corruption and anti-online gambling campaigns through various media, including social media.

Cooperation with the Indonesian Attorney General's Office also includes efforts to socialize ASN regarding the implementation of integrity, ethics, and professionalism values ​​in the government environment.

"Online gambling is camouflaged nowadays. It is different with online gambling in decades ago. Now it is camouflaged with very short online games with tempting promises, getting high profits. This is not realized by students and is not known by the public," Heru added.

Heru emphasized that cooperation with the Indonesian Attorney General's Office also involves assistance in various strategic projects of the regional government as the law enforcement side. It is expected that integrated supervision will strengthen the government's internal control system, reduce corruption potential, and improve public service quality in Jakarta.

Heru explained that Jakarta Provincial Government continues to develop a digital-based service system, such as the JAKI application and other integrated services to improve transparency and accountability. This system facilitates public access to public services and minimizes the illegal levies potential or other non-transparent practices.

Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to make public services the main indicator in ASN performance with strict monitoring and evaluation. Creating a clean and integrated government environment will be a real step of collaboration with the Prosecutor's Office in handling public reports related to legal violations.

Jakarta Provincial Government, Heru stated, continues to be committed to strengthening governance through the principles of good governance as an effort to realize Jakarta as Global City. Optimal synergy in preventing and taking form action against all forms of deviation that can harm the community and the state is expected to be provided through the collaboration between Jakarta Provincial Government and the Indonesian Attorney General's Office.

"Jakarta Provincial Government believes that Jakarta will become an example for other regions in implementing transparent, accountable and corruption-free governance through these concrete steps," Heru stated.

Jakarta Provincial Inspector Syaefuloh Hidayat said that Jakarta Provincial Government is very concerned about building integrity values, not only for the Provincial Government internal, but also for all Jakarta residents.

"We are all concerned about ensuring that online gambling can be prevented and eradicated. Through this forum, we invite all elements to jointly carry out activities to prevent the occurrence of online gambling exposure," he said.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General's Office's Legal Information Center Head, Harli Siregar, stated state's obligation includes providing protection for citizens from various things including online gambling. Therefore, the state's presence will continue to be carried out in providing order and regularity for people's lives for all aspects of life.

"With the community, the Attorney General's Office as part of the state element, is certainly present to provide good education on understanding the law. We will continue to be present through legal information centers together with citizens wherever they are," he stated.
