Jakarta Has Distributed 5,389 Free Nutritious Meal Packages

From August 29 to September 23, 2024, the Jakarta Provincial Government has distributed 5,389 Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) packages to students in seven elementary schools.

Jakarta Governor, Heru Budi Hartono explained the MBG trial program is first implemented at SDN Cideng 07, Central Jakarta by distributing 498 food packages using the governor's operational funds. Today, Monday (9/23), it was held at SDN Rorotan 03, Rorotan Urban Village, Cilincing, North Jakarta.

"We have been undergoing the MBG trial for a month. The first time we still used the governor's operational funds and the impact was very good, because more and more stakeholders are synergizing to support the nutritional needs of students," he expressed, when he surveyed the MGB trial at SDN Rorotan 03.

He continued the MBG distribution at SDN Rorotan 03 was supported by BUMD Jakarta and PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro). During the next two weeks, 900 MBG packages would be distributed to students of SDN Rorotan 03.

Its distribution is the first to use reusable cutlery. After the feeding process, the equipment such as tumblers, spoons and forks that are prepared will be washed again to be served the next day during the program.

Aside that, it had gone through a food security health check process by the North Jakarta Health Sub-agency. Then the students' weight and height would also be measured to measure the impact of providing MBG.

He added the trial of providing MBG is also an effort to better understand the preferred menu, distribution patterns, and food portions that were appropriate for students.

"Presentation of menus that students like with appropriate portions," he added.

People's Welfare Acting Assistant, Suharini Eliawati said the type of MBG menu provided to students of SDN 03 Rorotan consists of vegetable fried rice, diced chicken, omelet, and orange fruit worth Rp 22,000 per portion, with a nutritional content of 423.50 kilocalories (kcal) which meets the nutritional needs of elementary school-age children in one meal.

"We continue to realize the completeness of student nutrition by fulfilling food intake, and improving food consumption patterns through Educational Information Communication (KIE) for students and school committees," she concluded.

As for the information, since August 19 to September 23, 2024, the MGB trial has been applied in seven schools:

1. SDN Cideng 07, Central Jakarta: 498 packages (Governor's Operational Fund)

2. SDN Rawa Badak Utara 03, North Jakarta: 371 packages (CSR Perumda Dharma Jaya)

3. SDN 04 Cipayung, East Jakarta: 800 packages (CSR Perumda PAM Jaya)

4. SDN Gunung 1 Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta: 620 packages (PT Bank DKI)

5. SDN 01 and SMPN 03 Manggarai, South Jakarta: 1,500 packages (Perumda Dharma Jaya and Bank DKI)

6. SDN 05 and 07 Wijaya Kusuma, West Jakarta: 700 packages (PT Bank DKI)

7. SDN 03 Rorotan, North Jakarta: 900 packages (PT Jakpro)
